The study tour was part of the Land Management programme of KTH. The students were from several Eastern European countries like Serbia, Croatia and from the countries in transition in Central Asia.

The visit programme included a study visit to the Aalborg University, where the students learnt from Prof. Stig Enemark about the surveying profession in Denmark and about the education of Danish Surveyors. The second day was spent at the Danish Cadastre and Mapping Agency (Kort og Matrikelstyrelse, KMS) where Knut Villemoes Hansen told about the cadastre and registration system in Denmark and the work of KMS. The visitors also got a good overview about FIG and about the international surveyors and trends in surveying from Markku Villikka, FIG Director. His presentation also included the revised definition of the functions of the surveyor. The students were very active in discussion and eager to find ways how surveyors from their countries could be more involved in the international co-operation.
