Commission 2: Professional Education
Chair: Ms. E.M.C (Liza) Groenendijk (GIN, The Netherlands)

  • The domain of professional surveying education (vocational, higher and academic education, and continuing professional development)
  • The role of professional education and its relation to the public sector, private sector and professional organizations.
Commission 3: Spatial Information Management
Chair: Mr. Enrico Rispoli (CNGeGL, Italy)

  • The use of Spatial Information Management (data, tools, procedures, regulations, standards);
  • The support of Good governance (sustainable development, poverty reduction, social and economic growth, social security);
  • Spatial data infrastructure;
  • Research on the use of crowdsourced VGI data and derived information to geoscientific disciplines that make use of mapping, GIS, and Geo-SDI systems and procedures;
  • The research of the methods for the sustainable development especially of mega cities and emerging countries with high index of development;
  • The study and monitoring, as control of the fragility and vulnerability of the territory.

Commission 5: Positioning and Measurement

  • The science of measurement (instrumentation, methodology and guidelines)
  • The acquisition of accurate and reliable survey data related to the position, size and shape of natural and artificial features of the earth and its environment and including variation with time.
Commission 6: Engineering Surveys
Chair: Mr. Ivo Milev (USLMB, Bulgaria)

  • Acquisition, processing and management of topometric data and all related information throughout the life cycle of a project
  • Quality control and validation for civil engineering constructions and manufacturing of large objects
  •  Deformation monitoring, analysis and interpretation, measurement of dynamic loaded structures
  • Prediction of deformation and movements in engineering projects, mines and areas of geological hazard such as landslides, subsidence etc.
  • Automatic measuring systems, construction and industry and multi-sensor measuring systems.
  • Real-time deformation monitoring, analysis and interpretation, measurement of time series, measuring and analyzing the load caused the stress and strain response of the engineering structures.
  • Data acquisition, pre- and post-processing. Optimization and control of the data management during the life cycle of a project, final data integration, and its accuracy reliability for wide range processes of the structural engineering.

  • To provide independent, objective, accurate, and reliable capital and operating cost assessments usable for investment funding and project control; and
  • To analyze investment and development for the guidance of owners, financiers and contractors.
  • CE and QS duties and responsibilities include: estimates of capital or asset costs including development costs;
  • estimates of operating and manufacturing costs through an asset’s life cycle;
