FIG Commission 6 -
Engineering Surveys
The mission of commission 6 is to: |
Commission Chair |
- Promote the knowledge, skills and abilities of
surveyors in civil and industrial works within the various
professional fields of engineering
- Support all development and multidisciplinary
expertise leading to integrated survey methods, using various
instruments (geodetic, geotechnic, fast motion) and sensors and
combining geometry with all other data relevant to each engineering
problem
- Provide a forum for exchange of knowledge related
to engineering analysis of survey data for the study of structures
- In addition to the links with related WGs of IAG,
ISM and ISPRS, look for possible cooperation within these
organisations and support the co-operation of civil, structural and
mechanical engineers with our profession
-
Participation with ICOLD (International Committee
on Large Dams) national committees
-
Participation on the FIG Standards Network on
standardisation policy, support the standardisation activities at
the international, local and national level, and development of
standards and method statements
-
Participation on regional FIG events, and events
organised in co-operation with sister
organisations

TECHNICAL SEMINAR ON REFERENCE FRAME IN PRACTICE
29-30 July 2017, Kobe - Japan

This seminar will be of benefit to operational geodesists or
surveyors who are dealing with reference frame issues and crustal
deformation, either in a government or commercial environment. It is
also open to academics or postgraduate students in a surveying or
related discipline.

Invitation: International Conference on Engineering
Surveying (INGEO2017), 18-20 October in Lisbon , Portugal
Dear Delegate of Commission 6 - Engineering Surveys
This year the International Conference on Engineering Surveying
(INGEO2017) will be held once again. It will be the 7th. The longevity of
this event shows the importance of the theme - monitoring and safety
evaluation of civil engineering structures - in our professional group.
INGEO has been, since its beginning, organized by the Department of
Surveying of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak University of
Technology with close cooperation and support from FIG Commission 6. In
2017 INGEO will be organized together with the National Laboratory for
Civil Engineering (LNEC) from Portugal. For this reason, INGEO2017 brings
together two communities: surveyors and civil engineers.
The theme of the event “Monitoring: Needs and Solutions” expresses the
need of the joining, in one event, the two communities. In INGEO2017, we,
the producers (surveyors, geographical engineers and other specialist in
geospatial measuring techniques applied to monitoring) can meet the users
of our information: the civil engineers. In fact, civil engineers
responsible by the security of structures like buildings, dams, bridges,
tunnels, power plants and power distribution infrastructures, breakwaters,
roads, slopes, etc., want to know more about the state of the art but also
new geospatial measuring techniques. Finally, displacements, vibrations,
images etc. are data that the responsible by structures must have to
follow the behaviour of structures and to evaluate their safety. Last but
not least this are Data obtained with technology that we dominate and also
that we improve to meet the requirements of our clients for accuracy and
reliability.
Being sure that INGEO2017 will be an important event to our community,
let us meet next October, from 18th to 20th, in Lisbon, at the Congress
Centre of LNEC. For more information about the conference, please visit

Yours sincerely,
Prof. Alojz Kopácik, President of the Scientific
Committee
