Surveying for Climate Resilience: Practical Climate Actions - New FIG Publication no. 85

This new publication, spanning over land, water, and marine surveying, highlights the essential role of surveying professionals in advancing climate resilience and offers practical strategies and realworld examples to support climate adaptation, mitigation, and disaster resilience at national and local levels via 16 high-level Climate Actions.

New FIG Commission 9 Working Group: East Africa Working Group on Digital Valuations and Market Transparency

As of 1 January 2026 FIG Commission 9 on Valuation and Real Estate Management has formed this new Working Group. Transparent, credible and consistent valuation systems are fundamental to economic development, effective land governance, infrastructure delivery, property taxation, and public trust. Across East Africa, valuation practice continues to face structural challenges. The Working Group responds to the challenges using  by promoting regionally coordinated, digitally enabled, and transparent valuation systems across East Africa, initially focusing on Uganda and Kenya, and expanding to Tanzania, and other interested countries.  ARTICLE OF THE MONTH

The article of the month in February 2026 is a paper written by Guilherme Linheira, Hatan Pinheiro Silva, Everton Da Silva, Liane Ramos Da Silva, Francisco Eduardo De Mello Franco Sá And Diego Alfonso Erba, Brazil: The Guidelines for the Brazilian Multipurpose Cadastre and its Relations with International Frameworks: LADM, STDM, Fit-for-purpose and FELA  presented at the FIG Commission 7 and 8 of the UFSC FIG Joint Land Administration Conference in Brasil. The paper analyzes Brazil's Ordinance No. 3,242/2022, which establishes guidelines for the multipurpose cadastre, highlighting its alignment with international technical and conceptual frameworks. Read the paper
