Welcome to FIG Regional Conference 2024

Climate Responsive Land Governance  and Disaster Resilience: Safeguarding Land Rights

Background

The local hosts, Nepal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (NICS) was established in 2008 and has organised several events together with FIG. NICS seeks to create a unique opportunity in Nepal and beyond to focus on resolving regional land-related issues for the betterment of vulnerable communities.

Theme and topics

NICS and FIG aim to promote the important role of surveying professions and surveyors in translating sustainable development goals into action and enhancing community resilience to climate change.

Objective

The main objective of the event is to uncover the regional land agenda particularly to highlight the crucial role of surveyors in executing the identified regional agendas.  The secondary objectives include fostering collaborative relationships between national/regional institutions, academics, and professionals for mutual benefit through knowledge sharing and technology transfer at the regional level.

 Additionally, the conference aims to address multidisciplinary issues faced by human society that can be addressed by surveying professionals, such as strengthening cadaster in the region, expanding the scope of FIG in Asia, and inspiring the millennial generation for a prosperous professional future.
