Welcome

Welcome to the 2nd FIG Regional Conference Urban-Rural Interrelationship for Sustainable Environment, to be held in Morocco on 2–5 December, 2003. This conference will at the same time be the highlight of the 3rd National Surveying Day in Morocco. The conference is organised under the high patronise of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI.

The Conference is co-sponsored by several United Nations agencies and the Arab Union of Surveyors (AUS) and the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI).

All ten FIG technical Commissions will attend and FIG Commission 3 will have its annual meeting during the week. FIG Council and Commission officers will have their administrative meetings.

The authors have been informed about the acceptance of their papers. The draft programme is now available on this site.

The Conference includes:

• FIG Roundtable on Surveying and GIS Education in Africa on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 from 14:00 to 16:00
• FIG Commissions 3 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 from 14:00 to 15:30.
• FIG Commission 5 Open Meeting on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 from 16:00 to 17:30
• Interoperability workshop: An Intergraph contribution. Workshop organised by Intergraph and chaired by Peter Bartak, Program Manager, Spatial Data Infrastructures on Thursday, December 4, 2003 from 10:30 to 12:00

The final day of the conference (Dec 5) is reserved for a full-day technical tour.
