Prof. Janusz Walo - President of Association of Polish Surveyors

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Colleagues,

I feel honoured to invite you to Warsaw, Poland, to attend FIG Congress in 2022. I deeply believe that hosting this prestigious event will broaden the horizons of the Polish local science and professional surveyors, entailing opportunities for development and international cooperation.

The Association of Polish Surveyors has had a long tradition. Last year we celebrated the 100th anniversary. We act as a voluntary organisation gathering professional surveyors based on a diploma certifying completion of the education in geodesy and cartography. We joined FIG in 1926, and since then, our members have been very active in the Federation. We are a country of, probably, the most significant number of land surveyors per capita and where land surveying heritage is solid.

Warsaw, as the capital of Poland, is undoubtedly the most experienced Polish destination for meetings. The advantages of Warsaw are modern, well-developed infrastructure and service quality. It still constitutes a relatively affordable destination, with a low crime rate and no terrorism activity. Regarding the COVID situation, Poland is considered a safe destination as over 60% of the population has already been vaccinated against COVID-19.

In the heart of Europe, Poland is easily reachable from all around the world. Located only 8 km from the city centre, Warsaw Chopin International Airport offers many international flight connections. Apart from professional conference centres, the list of highlights attracting the attention of conference participants also involves the tradition and legends of churches, castles, palaces, factories and warehouses. There are off-the-wall street theatres, open-air jazz events, parks where picnic breakfasts taste the most delicious and mysterious nooks of Polish cities, where even residents enthusiastically participate in the urban games.

In addition to the fact that water, mountains, canyons and even a desert, as well as entirely professional facilities, are available for your event, there is one more thing that makes us stand out: the atmosphere! It is the people that create the excitement-charged atmosphere of significant events. Deeply involved and passionate, supported by local and national institutions, together with private companies, we ensure that the development of congresses, events and trade fairs will be devoid of any routine.

A long-standing tradition, significant organisational experience, well-developed structures all over the country, a significant number of active members all provide a solid basis for the successful organisation of this important Conference.

See you in Poland in 2022!
