Tours

A selection of local tours will be organised for delegates, as well as accompanying persons. We offer a selection of tours that can be booked only through the organisers in the registration form. A selection of optional tours are also offered. These together with pre- and post-conference tours shall be booked directly from the appointed tour operator: Asia Explorer Travel JSC.

Technical Tour to Ha Long Bay is included in the registration fee of international participants. You can extend your stay in Ha Long Bay with one night, see details below.

Sightseeing Tours

Time: Sunday 18 October 2009
Fee: EUR 20

Pick up from your conference hotel 8:00 and transfer by car to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum, One pillar pagoda, and Temple of Literature.
After lunch visit to Hanoi Hilton – Prison, Army Museum, Hanoi Flag Tower. Wandering around Hoan Kiem Lake then visit Ngoc Son Temple and enjoy one-hour cyclo trip around the trading area in Hanoi Old Quarter. Tour end about 16h30 pm.

Time: Monday 19 October 2009 (HCH-1) and Wednesday 21 October 2009 (HCH-2)
Fee: EUR 10

Pick up at NCC 13:30. Transfer to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum, One pillar pagoda, Temple of Literature, continue visit Hanoi Hilton – Prison. Wandering around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter. The trip ends at NCC on Monday and at your hotel on Wednesday by17:30.

Time: Tuesday 20 October 2009
Fee: EUR 10

Start at 13:30 from NCC. Transfer by car from Hanoi to Bat Trang ceramic village, the center of traditional "An Nam" ceramic.
Stop at the village is an interesting mixture between watching the real production of ceramics and walking around for some light but fine and sophisticated porcelain. You can find in a factory the workmen mixing clay or dipping burnt vases into glaze to highlight their crackled lines, the painting masters, usually young girls with dexterous hands drawing on raw terracotta before they are heated at 900oC to 1,700oC ovens, taking inspiring pictures of coal-dust bakes pasted on the village's walls. Daily life of the village with a small exciting market and the wharf at the Red River where the products shipped are also very fascinating. Back to your conference hotel in Hanoi by 17:30.

Day 01: Ha Noi – Ha Long (-/L/D)
Pick up at your conference hotel 07:00, drive to Ha Long City, short stop on the way. Arrive in Ha Long 11:00. Board the boat to enjoy an overnight trip in Ha Long Bay. Enjoy many beautiful islets and islands when you have deluxe seafood lunch. After lunch visit to Sung Sot (Surprise) cave – famous for its stalagmites and stalactites. Leaving the cave boat will arrive Tittop island for swimming on nice sand beach or walk on the top of island for panorama view of Ha Long Bay. Back to boat for deluxe seafood dinner. After dinner enjoy fishing at night. Overnight on boat.

Day 02: Ha Long – Ha Noi (B/L/-)
Sunrise breakfast on boat. Continue to visit Ha Long Bay. Deluxe seafood lunch on boat.
Arrive to Halong City 12:00 and transfer back to Hanoi. Arrive to your conference hotel or to the airport 16:00.

Pick up at your hotel 04:00. Transfer to visit flower market, and vegetable market. Back to Hoan Kiem Lake. Enjoy Tai Chi with local people. Take 30 minute of cyclo ride in very quite Hanoi Old Quarter. Back to your hotel at 07:00 for breakfast.

Thay pagoda.

Half-day Thay Pagoda and Tay Phuong pagoda - TTP
Time: Wednesday 21 October 2009
Fee: USD 19/ person

Pick up from your hotel/NCC at 13:00. We drive 30 km (45 minutes) from Hanoi to Tay Phuong Pagoda, which was built in the 17th century, and is very famous for the 18 statues of La Han coated with lacquer paint. After that we visit Thay Pagoda, which was first built in 11 century. This one is located at the foot of Thay Mountain and has a neat setting. In here, you'll have a chance to see the oldest stage for performing water puppet right in the village lake. Back to your conference hotel in Hanoi by 17:30.

Full-day Hanoi – Perfume pagoda with lunch - CPH
Time: Tuesday 20 October 2009 and Wednesday 21 October 2009
Fee: USD 31/ person

Depart at 09:00 am, 02 hours drive to Perfume Pagoda (75km). Enjoy a 1.30 hours boat trip on Yen (Swallow Bird) stream and visit Trinh temple. Then 2 hours climbing up the mountain to visit pagoda inside Grotto Huong Tich, the most beautiful cave, where people often come to pray for health, luck, ... etc. After lunch, visit Thien Tru Pagoda and scenery of Holiest in the country. Take another 1.30 hours boat trip back to the Wharf. Back to NCC or your conference hotel in Hanoi by 15:00

Day 01: HANOI – NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI (B/L/D)

20h00: Pick up at hotel then transfer to Hanoi station for night train to Lao Cai on TULICO COMPARTMENT (sharing 2 upper and 2 lower soft berths with air condition compartment with other passengers) Train departs Hanoi at 2200.
Overnight trip on train.

Day 02: LAOCAI – SAPA (B/L/D)
The train arrives at the Lao Cai train station at approximately 6:00 am. There will be a vehicle waiting to transfer you to Sapa. The drive to Sapa is only 38 km but it takes around one hour to make our way up the mountains. Once at Sapa, after checking in hotel if room available (check in time 14h00), you will have breakfast and then are ready to explore Sapa town. We embark on a lovely walking tour to the hill tribe villages of Cat Cat, home to the H'mong minority people. As we walk to the villages nestled in the valley below Sapa, we will meet some of the local minority people on their way to and from Sapa. Here we have the opportunity to share cultural experiences with the families that live in the area. Back to Sapa town for lunch.

Day 03: SAPA - Lao Chai – Ta Van – NIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI (B/L/D)
Breakfast at hotel
After breakfast we leave the hotel and start trekking. The first part is on the road but we soon turn to the right and walk on a small path down the valley to the Muong Hoa River and from here to the Black H’mong village Lao Chai. Black H’mong is one of the biggest minority groups in the Sapa area. They are proud of their culture and keep their traditions and way of living. They have their own language and wear traditional indigo blue clothing. After lunch, you continue to Ta Van village (1.200 m) to visit the Zay people. The Zay are a fairly small minority group of about 38.000 people who live mainly in the mountains in Northwest Vietnam. Development has meant that some of their old customs have been lost but many women still wear traditional shirts with a purple, blue or green colour. The Zay houses are built of wood and bamboo with a clay floor. Pick up and transfer to Lao Cai. Dinner at restaurant. Get on night train to Hanoi on TULICO compartment.
  Day 04: HANOI (B/-/-)
Arrive Hanoi early in the morning (about 05h30AM)
Meet at Hanoi station then transfer to hotel in Hanoi or direct to airport.
