“The first real meeting of our virtual community”
Córdoba, Argentina, 20-22 September 2006
“CIELA06” the first international conference organized by
elagrimensor.net was held in Córdoba, Argentina from 20 to 22 September
2006. It should be emphasized that this has been the first event related to
our profession in Latin America that has been organized by private
organization.
There were about 350 participants, with 50 papers related to Cadastre,
Land Administration, Land Management, Geodesy, GPS, Surveying, Cartography,
GIS, etc. - most of them were of a high quality and the majority focussed in
the Latin-American situation.
Participants came from Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Paraguay, Brazil,
Denmark, France, Spain, USA and Argentina.
There was a small exhibition with representatives of Autodesk, ESRI,
Geoeye, Leica, Trimble and Sokkia.
The most relevant provincial professional Associations supported the
event as well as FADA (Argentinean Association of Surveyors) and the
Uruguayan Association of Surveyors.
National and International institutions supported this event, such as
Association of Geodesy and Geophysics, IGN (National Geographic Institute),
Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and FIG, whose President sent a letter read
in the first open session and being very much appreciated by participants
and organizers.
The event was declared of the highest municipal and provincial interest.
Because of the great success, the main organizer, Ing. Agrimensor José
Mª Ciampagna, is planning to repeat the experience in 2008 with the
support of all participants, professionals, Institutions and, we hope, our
Federation.
