Invitation to compete for the 2010 FIG Congress Prize for Young Surveyors

The International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and the Institution of Surveyors Australia (ISA) have decided to offer the FIG Congress Prize for Young Surveyors of FIG member associations at the XXIV FIG International Congress in Sydney, Australia. The value of the prize will be 1,500 Euros, together with complimentary registration and accommodation at the congress hotel from April 11th to 16th and a return airfare to and from Sydney (economy class up to costs of at most 1,200 Euro). Eligible to compete for the prize are members of FIG member associations who have not reached the age of 36 by December 31st, 2010.

The Congress theme is “Facing the Challenges – Building the Capacity”. The congress will gather experts from around the globe to discuss the challenges and to consider how sur-veyors can help to mitigate the impacts on society and the general public. Any paper submitted must relate to a surveying subject consistent with that theme. For more details please have a look at our web site under “Technical Program” (http://www.fig2010.com) and call for papers. The paper must be an original work that has not been previously published. It has to be submitted in English, using 12 pt typeface (Times New Roman) and be of no more than 15-20 A-4 pages in length (inclusive of illustrations and diagrams) with clear margins of 25 mm (top and sides) and 38 mm (bottom) on each page. The papers should be submitted in electronic format to FIG, email: fig@fig.net.

Papers must be submitted through the authors' member association, which should send submissions on to the FIG office to arrive no later than 30 November 2009. Personal data about the author should be presented with the paper and certified by the member association in accordance with the attached application. Selection of the successful paper will be made by a committee appointed by the FIG Council.

The successful candidate will be invited by the President of FIG and the President of ISA to attend the Congress. The prize will be presented during the opening ceremony.
