TT1 - PERBADANAN PUTRAJAYA (PUTRAJAYA CORPORATION)

Putrajaya, located 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia and is managed by Putrajaya Corporation. Putrajaya is being developed as a City in a Garden. About 38% of its area is being developed into parks, lakes and wetlands while the rest is reserved for government offices, commercial and residential development, public utilities and amenities. The 600 hectare man-made Putrajaya Lake serves as a climate moderator. Currently, lake activities available are boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing.
Being located within the Multimedia Super Corridor, and in line with the Government’s e-Government initiative, Putrajaya is being developed as an intelligent city. Multimedia technologies are being implemented to facilitate communication and interaction between Government offices, between the Government and the business community, and between the Government and the community. During the visit, participants will be briefed on the operation of Putrajaya Corporation.

TT2 - NATIONAL VALUATION INSTITUTE (INSPEN)

INSPEN is a training and research institute under the Department of Valuation and Property Management Malaysia (DVPMM) set up to provide capacity building for government valuers and the property industry. Its main training Campus is located in Bangi, Selangor about 27 km from Kuala Lumpur City Centre. Participants will be briefed on the activities carried out by INSPEN and DVPMM.

TT3 - MASS RAPID TRANSIT (MRT)

MY Rapid Transit (also known as Klang Valley Mass Transit or MRT) is a proposed 3-line mass rapid transit system in the Greater Kuala Lumpur (part of Klang Valley region) conurbation which envisages a ‘Wheel and Spoke’ concept comprising two northeast – southwest radial lines and one circle line looping around Kuala Lumpur city. The MRT project will not only significantly increase the current inadequate rail network but will also serve to integrate the existing rail networks and expectantly alleviate the severe traffic congestion in Greater Kuala Lumpur metropolitan area.
The MRT project is owned by the Government of Malaysia through MRT Corporation. MMC GAMUDA KVMRT (T) SDN BHD was awarded to design and construct the underground works of MRT, given its extensive tunneling experience and expertise. MMC GAMUDA KVMRT (T) SDN BHD responsibilities include monitoring and tracking of construction of all elevated structures, stations and depots of the MRT project. It also monitors underground works, which involves tunneling and construction of underground stations. Participants will be briefed on the MRT project.

TT5 - STORM-WATER MANAGEMENT AND ROAD TUNNEL (SMART TUNNEL)

Time: 14.00 - 18.00 (Approx. 4 hours)

 

The SMART tunnel is a flood mitigation infrastructure able to divert large volumes of flood water from entering a critical flood prone stretch in Kuala Lumpur via a holding pond, bypass tunnel and storage reservoir. This will reduce water level during flood during heavy raining, preventing spillover. The tunnel was incepted, primarily to mitigate the recurring floods in the city of Kuala Lumpur, the financial, business and commercial hub of Malaysia. The operator of SMART tunnel is Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir & Terowong Sdn Bhd. During the visit, participants will be briefed on the operation of SMART Tunnel.

TT6 - MALAYSIAN CENTRE FOR GEOSPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURE (MACGDI)

 
    

Time: 14.00 - 18.00 (Approx. 4 hours)

MaCGDI is an entity established by the Government of Malaysia to manage and promote the development of geospatial data infrastructure for Malaysia (MyGDI). MaCGDI is also responsible for coordinating access and delivery of the geographic information held by all government agencies. The scope of duty of MaCGDI is to carry out the development of geospatial data infrastructure encompassing policies, standards, technology, rules, law, safety and support for data preparation in agencies at Federal, State, and Local Authorities levels. Participants will be briefed on the activities of MaCGDI.

TT7 - DEPARTMENT OF SURVEY AND MAPPING MALAYSIA

 
 
       

Time: 14.30 - 18.30 (Approx. 4 hours)

The Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia or better known as JUPEM is responsible for spearheading national development and offers advisory services to the Malaysian Government in the surveying and mapping discipline, while undertaking surveying and mapping works (cadastral surveys, topographical mapping, thematic mapping, underground utility mapping and boundary demarcartion) which form the foundation of basic socio-economic development and national sovereignty. Participants will be briefed on the activities carried out by JUPEM.
