• The challenge of access to land and marine resources due to a lack of clearly defined real property rights is often cited as a major cause of dispute and resultant instability for SIDS. In this session we explore institutional impediments to land and resource access in SIDS. The small island states in the Pacific, typically grouped into three regions: Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia, cover a very wide expanse of the world’s surface.
